Preview: Star-P® on Windows HPC Server 2008

Star-P is evolving to enable high-productivity parallel computing for scientists and research organizations relying on Microsoft’s Windows HPC Server 2008 platform. The same ease and scope of parallel computing with Star-P that has been available from Interactive Supercomputing for use on Linux Servers is becoming available on Windows Servers.

Using Star-P on distributed systems based on Windows HPC Server 2008 will allow scientists and researchers to easily scale up their algorithms for high-performance parallel computing. Star-P works with either stand-alone or clustered servers and integrates with popular workload management solutions. Multiple users can use the system with either shared or dedicated resources.

Star-P for Windows HPC Server 2008 will be available on multicore x86/64 systems based on both Intel (Xeon) and AMD (Opteron) processors. User access and resource allocation will be supported by Windows HPC Server 2008 Job Scheduler, in addition to the currently supported workload managers such as LSF, PBS Pro, Sun Grid Engine, Torque.

Star-P customers rely on Star-P capabilities to:

  • increase productivity of their research teams and domain experts by
  • accelerating time to solution,
  • 10-100x faster computing with 10x-100x larger data sets,
  • without the need for specialized low-level programming skills.

Interactive Supercomputing has been delivering Star-P-based solutions to government, industry and academia.
